The 3rd Market Harborough ‘Kingfisher’ Beaver Scout enjoyed a sleepover at Topstones, they made barometers, thermometers, wind vanes, twistle sticks, indoor kites, bracelets showing the water-cycle, rain gauges and anenometers. They told jokes, listened to a story about the weather and had a really good singing session. They played on the go-karts and the Centenary Trail (assault course) and collected fire wood.
They ate a hearty meal and watched the DVD of Cloudy with Meatballs. A total of 65 Activity Badges, Staged Activity Badges and Challenge Badges were presented before the Beavers departed for home on Sunday lunch-time.
My thanks go to the parents for supporting this activity whole-heartedly, 16 of the boys were on their first night away from home, to the leaders and helpers for all their help especially as I was unwell during the weekend and finally thanks to the Beaver Scouts who really did sleep for about 6 hours despite what they told their parents, whose jokes made us cringe but whose laughter kept us all going.
