Work has continued through the summer to complete the jobs at Fleckney scout HQ. Unfortunatly there was a very poor turn out of parents at the work weekend but the leaders and district team got stuck in with the help of a couple of parents. We have nearly finished the outside of the building and work is continuing inside with a new floor covering being fitted to the entrance, toilets and kitchen over the next couple of days. Once this is done then the kitchen will be tiled ready for the new kitchen to be installed. All that will remain then is the main hall needs painting.

In one weekend we are going to try to abseil the height of Everest via muiltiple abseils down our tower. To do this we need to do 932 abseils over the weekend. Therefore we need volunteers to come and do as many abseils as they like absolutely free and help us meet our target. If you are interested all we ask is that you just register with us and tell us an approximate time you would like to come and do as many abseils as you’d like. There will be instructors around at all times to help out so whenever you come there will always be a friendly face on the tower helping you.
All we would like, is if you can rustle up some sponsorship so we can raise money to give people an outdoor rock climbing experience who would never normally get the chance.

The money has been used to alter the entrance to the building and to add a much needed disabled toilet facility. The building has also been rewired and had new heating installed. Mike Burden (acting Chairman) has been at the forefront of the fund raising said that we are now starting to see progress at the Headquarters and hopefully over the next couple of months we will be able to finish the décor and add a kitchen.
