The 2010 Pride in Harborough Awards ceremony took place this week hosted by the Three Swans Hotel, in Market Harborough.

Scouting was represented by Iain Provins who was nominated for the Raising the Profile of your Town award, and Sam and Lee Gibbs who were nominated for the People Who Help Young People Fulfil Their Potential Award. We are pleased to say the all three nominees won their category.

Iain Provins who is Group Scout Leader for the 3rd Market Harborough Scout Group, has been with the group for over 20 years.  Iain said on the night, ‘I’m overwhelmed.  The work I do isn’t something I ever wanted to get thanked for, and this award is as much for the other leaders as it is for me.’

Sam and Lee Gibbs, who are Scout Leader and Assistant Scout Leader with the 1st Bowden’s Scout Group, received their award for helping to revitalise the Scouting movement in Little Bowden.  Their group has risen in numbers steadily over the last few years.  They said, ‘It’s just incredible to win the award as we never expected to even be nominated. We would like to thank the other leaders because we couldn’t do the work without their help. The cubs and scouts we work with are also wonderful, as are the parents.’
