Explorers Receive Awards

Filed under: Explorers — Webmaster @ 9:45 am

On Tuesday 20th April there was a Duke of Edinburgh/Chief Scout Awards ceremony at County Hall hosted by the Chairman, Roger White and his wife.  Matt Hampson, the President of Leics Scouts was also there.  (Our County Commissioner, Byron Chatburn was stuck in Florida).

District Explorers Receive Awards

Jacob Marlow and James Gardner were presented with their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Awards

Ben Tincello and Monty Dobney received Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Chief Scouts Platinum Awards and Matt Hughes received the top awards available at a County presentation, Duke of Edinburgh Silver and the Chief Scouts Diamond Award.

All of these explorers are already working hard on the next level of explorer awards and I expect that by this time next year, Matt will be on his way to St James’s palace with up to 7 other Inclined Explorers to receive not only a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award but THE TOP Queen’s Scout Award.

Considering that Leicestershire only awards about 50 explorers a year with a Chief Scouts Award and approximately 400 explorers nationally receive a Queen’s Scout Award, these Inclined Explorers are really putting Harborough on the scouting map.  Achievement takes hard work and commitment.  These guys have demonstrated they have got what it takes.  I say, VERY WELL DONE.

Debbie Billington (Inclined Explorer Scouts Leader).
