Volunteer training

Volunteer training

All adults within scouting are volunteers first. There is only a small number of paid staff in scouting, mainly to cover national level administration.

However, all volunteers within scouting must complete mandatory training to ensure that we run as a safe organisation. Failure to do so may result in the volunteer being told to step away from scouting.

Adult training

This training is for any adult (18+) involved in scouting, regardless of role. For more information, please email the district training advisors, Sue and Pete Dove.

Young leader training

This training is for all young people (13.5 – 17) who attend a Squirrel, Beaver, Cub or Scout section to help run the meeting and learn leadership skills.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
