Captain Sir Keith Fraser Bart.

Sir Keith Alexander Fraser 5th baronet of Lederclune was born on Dec 24th 1867. He joined the 7th Hussars in 1888 and served with them in the Matabeleland campaigns of 1896, where Lt .Col Baden-Powell was, with the 13th Hussars, but there is no evidence of them meeting.

He also served in Mashonaland and was promoted to Captain in 1889. Sir Keith retired in 1903 and came to live at Carlton hall, Carlton Curlieu. On Aug 30th 1910 he married Lady Dorothy Coventry, who later lived at church Langton until her death in 1965. He became the south Leics conservative candidate in 1912. Whether he presented the shield to commemorate this, or the wedding of General Baden-Powell is a matter for conjecture

The Great War saw Sir Keith again in uniform as a major in the third county of London yeomanry and afterwards won the south Leics seat in parliament, now the Harborough constituency, until 1923. He became deputy lieutenant of Leicestershire, a justice of the peace for Ross and Crommerty and successful trainer of steeplechasers -when he died, Sept 27th 1935 a memorial service was held at Carlton, another in Aylestone, Leicester in addition to his internment at his beloved *Inverinante, (believed to be on Isle of Skye) the baronial estates. All these services were well attended by local dignitaries, friends and family.
