Volunteer with us

Volunteering is easier than you think!

We’re always looking for more adults to join our adventure. You don’t have to be like Bear Grylls to get involved. We all have useful skills and you can volunteer and help in many ways. Everyone has something to give and not all our volunteers wear uniform. Maybe you like working with young people, or prefer words and numbers, or are handy in the kitchen or with DIY and practical skills.

Scouting is about everyday adults helping out as leaders and supporters in local Scout Groups as an integral part of the community, giving young people confidence, a sense of purpose, life values and outdoor skills – we call this everyday adventure!

As long as you’re over 18, you can help out as an adult volunteer.

Ways to get involved

Volunteering with us is easy, fun and flexible – how much time you give is completely up to you. Whether you can help weekly, once a month or just at special events or camps, there is role for you. No matter how you get involved, we’ll make sure you’re properly trained and supported.

What’s in it for me?

As well as having a brilliant time, Scouting also offers the chance to build on personal skills, like teamwork, confidence and leadership. A study found that over 90% of our volunteers believe that the skills and experiences they have gained through Scouting have been of relevance to their working or personal lives.

Our current vacancies within Scout Groups

There is always room for more volunteers at our Scout Groups with many varied roles and flexible commitment. Just tell us what you fancy doing, when and where. Alternatively, find the best fit for you by coming and see what we do.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
